Nampharm was established in February
1997 in Grootfontein, since it inception a policy of cultivating
service excellence and offering a integrated solution for all
stakeholders has resulted in a recipe for success. By implementing
our vision to be the most effective pharmaceutical distributor in
Africa, another milestone was achieved in 1999 when a warehouse and
office block was erected in Windhoek. The new headquarters in
Windhoek became operational in November 1999.
Our purpose as a highly skilled and competent team is to achieve our goals by working at the development and implementation of a world class distribution, information and financial system to satisfy all the stakeholders needs. According to Mr. Andre van der Walt, Managing Director of NamPharm, " The challenge, that is facing the whole of Africa is to make medicines more affordable one of the avenue's that could realize the goal of affordable medication in Africa is to utilize E-business opportunities." As a market leader in the distribution of pharmaceuticals and veterinary medicines NamPharm took the lead in developing specialized software applications for pharmaceutical wholesaling. This new system will integrate all Namibian players in the pharmaceutical industry. The Major benefit that comes with implementing this system would be cost saving through optimum stock and sales control. In the long term this integrated system could have major impact on pharmaceutical retailing in Namibia. The better utilization of stock could lead to cost reductions making medicine more affordable to consumer therefore bringing the industry closer to proactively addressing the market challenge of affordability of medicines to the masses in Africa. We are currently busy implementing a Quality Management System. First of all, what is quality? Quality is often referred to as "fitness for purpose" or " meeting customer requirements" or "conformance to customer specifications". There is however, a growing acceptance of the fact that quality should be seen as "consistently exceeding customer expectations". A Quality Management System is a framework by which all processes in the business are governed. If all processes are carried out in accordance with given (adequate) procedures, there is not much chance of having defects. The QMS that we are implementing is the ISO9001:2000 standard. The reason for implementing a QMS is to enhance customer value and to align all our business processes in order to reach our vision. Our vision is: "To be the most efficient pharmaceutical distributor in Africa" -- We will keep you updated on our progress with implementation of our QMS. |
