Product Manager (Buyer)

Overview

The incumbent will manage assigned pharmaceutical and consumer-related products in line with Nampharm’s policies and SOPs, with monthly KPI-based reporting to the Procurement Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Procure registered drugs and/or other products as determined by Nampharm while abiding to local and international laws governing the trade of medicines.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain better trade agreements and prices etc. in accordance with Nampharm policies and KPI’s.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favourable agreements.
  • Assist the Warehouse and Telesales with product queries.
  • Manage the stock in your portfolio by regularly checking stock levels, placing orders with suppliers, checking expired stock, checking excess stock, and ensuring the prices of stock are correct.
  • Provide Telesales with product information, arrival dates of requested products.
  • Liaise with medical representatives and suppliers to maintain and improve good relationships.
  • Handling of S4 medication: Receiving, Dispensing and balancing of Schedule 4 book.
  • Be the responsible “Pharmacist on Call” on a rotation basis for all after-hours emergency requests.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
  • At least 5 years’ experience with Procurement and Inventory Management.
  • Registered as Pharmacist with HPCNA.
  • In-depth knowledge of Namibian regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical products.
  • Knowledge of import/export procedures and documentation for registered and non-registered pharmaceutical products.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market trends and data.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Leadership skills to be able to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams towards common goals.
  • Strong time management, logical reasoning, strategic thinking and critical problem solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and across departments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Applicants must be in good physical and mental condition.
